SEO Checklist for Ecommerce Brands: August Edition

August is here and while we’re still dreaming of summer sunshine and BBQs, the time has come to start thinking strategically about the months ahead! β˜€οΈπŸπŸŽ„

Here are the top 3 areas you should focus your SEO attention on through August:

1) β˜€οΈ Audit summer successes & apply learningsβ˜€οΈ

Take a deep dive into Google Search Console to see which summer strategies have paid off:

- Which product pages are ranking highest?

- What search terms are bringing in the most traffic?

Use this data to inform your autumn and Christmas content strategy.

For example, if β€œsummer wedding guest dresses” performed well, consider creating β€œautumn wedding guest outfits” or β€œChristmas party dresses” pages using the same content structure and optimisation techniques.

2) 🍁 Bridge the seasonal gap with transitional content🍁

August is the perfect time to create β€œsummer to autumn” transition content. Think β€œend of summer sales”, β€œlate summer essentials”, and β€œback to school” pages that keep traffic flowing while your autumn content gains traction.

Pro tip: Update your homepage and main category pages with messaging that acknowledges both seasons - β€œShop summer clearance while browsing our new autumn arrivals” to keep all your bases covered!

3)πŸŽ„ Start your Christmas SEO strategy NOW (seriously!).πŸŽ„

I know, I know - it’s still summer and you can’t possibly think about Christmas until the kids go back to school…But remember SEO.TAKES.TIME, and Christmas shoppers start researching gift ideas as early as October.

Give yourself a head start this year, and your products will be flying up the search engines just in time!

Pro tip: Think about planning searchable content like gift guides and style guides, while planning out some additional collection pages tailored to shopper search terms eg "Gifts for men", "gifts under Β£20".
