How long does it take for SEO to work?

This week I'm going to answer what has to be my MOST asked SEO question:

"How long does it take for SEO to work?"

If you want the short answer, AKA the "industry standard" answer, I'd say 3-6 months.

However, if you want my ACTUAL answer, (the answer I tell my clients!), I'd say; it varies!

We all know that SEO isn't a quick-win magic bullet that will transform your business overnight. But it's worth remembering that the brands that are focussing on their SEO right now, are the ones who are backing themselves by building businesses with longevity.

Lots of the SEO improvements my clients and I make to websites can take a while to bed in, but the pay off can be huge. Like, traffic doubling huge!



That being said,  not every SEO improvement you make with take 6 months to start working. There are small tweaks you can make TODAY that can help to improve click through rates (and therefore traffic numbers), almost immediately!

Here are my 3 favourites:

✅ Set up your Google Business profile to start showing up in local searches, take up space on the search results page, and start collecting reviews to increase trust.

✅ Update your 'site identity' to make sure your website title includes your brand name AND a tag line so that customers browsing search results can be in no doubt about who you are and what you sell.

✅ Write that blog post and start increasing the number of pages on your site. The more pages you have, the more potential you have to be found!
