4 SEO tips you can do while the kettle boils
To stand by my ethos of making SEO as simple as possible, this week I'm sharing simple 4 tips you can do to improve your SEO in the time it takes to boil the kettle!
I know that sometimes SEO can feel totally overwhelming. So much jargon flying around and with so many different aspects, it can be really hard to make a start.
My four tips are here to hopefully take away some of the ‘decision paralysis’ of “Where do I even begin!”, while at the same time showing you that making changes to improve your SEO doesn’t have to involve enormous, complicated projects. They can be small, bite-sized tasks, to fit in around your day-to-day.
So here we go…
1) Google yourself
✅ Do you like what you see? Great!
If not, there are a couple of things you do to update them:
❌ If the title doesn't include your brand name and tagline you need to update your META TITLES.
❌ If the text under the title doesn't make sense, or is out of date, you need to update your META DESCRIPTION.
Depending on your website platform, each page should have it's own SEO section where you can make these changes.
2) Ask a customer for a review
✅ Email your most loyal customer and ask them if they'd be willing to write a review - You could even through in a freebie or offer a discount off their next next order to sweeten the deal.
🤷🏻♀️ Why? Google LOVES fresh, unique content, and great reviews help new customers trust your brand!
3) Check your website on mobile
Be honest, when was the last time you did this?
🕵🏻♀️ Have a quick scroll of your website while your waiting for the kettle to boil and ask yourself the following questions:
Can you read the text clearly?
Do the buttons work and are they big enough?
Is your menu easy to navigate?
If these answer to any of these is 'no', it's likely you'll be losing lots of potential customers!
4) Check your Google Business Profile
Do you have a Google Business Profile? Is it out of date?
If you don’t already have one, this is an absolute must! Not only are they totally free, they can be a great search engine asset due to the fact they:
⚡ Increase the visibility of your business in Google and essentially ‘push’ completing websites further down the page
⚡ Give you full control over your content in search engines.
⚡ Enhance your local SEO performance by including you in local searches and within Google Maps
⚡ Bring greater trust to potential customers via their review section.
Once you have one set up, you should absolutley add a reminder in your calendar to quickly review it every couple of months to make sure:
All images are up to date
Open and closing times are correct - You rrrreeeeeaallly don’t want to be sending potential customers to visit your physical shop when it’s closed!
Reply to any reviews you’ve had.
If all of this sounds great in practise but you could do with a bit of extra guidance, why not sign up for a Mini Audit & 1:1 mentoring session where I'll be able to give you 90-minutes of my time and a personalised plan specifically designed around your website.
